Bihar Polls 2025: Mahagathbandhan’s Unity Shaken Over Seat Sharing Dispute

As Bihar Assembly elections 2025 approach, the unity within the Mahagathbandhan alliance has been significantly affected due to disputes over seat sharing. The disagreement has escalated to the point where the coalition partners have fielded candidates against each other in seven crucial constituencies, raising serious questions about the alliance’s strength and coherence.

In these constituencies – Kahalgaon, Lalganj, Bachbara, Gauraboram, Rajapakar, Rosera, and Biharsharif – Congress and VIP have put forward their own candidates, while RJD and CPI have also nominated their representatives, leading to a direct contest between allies.

Since the election announcement, the seat-sharing issue has been a source of continuous friction within the Mahagathbandhan. Political analysts had predicted a tight contest this time around, but the alliance’s internal rifts now complicate those forecasts. Even until the day before nominations, no consensus was reached, causing the coalition bonds to fray.

This development injects a layer of uncertainty into Bihar’s political landscape and could have a decisive impact on the election results, reflecting a fractured alliance at a critical electoral juncture.
