BJP Mocks Mahagathbandhan as Seat-Sharing Talks Remain Deadlocked

Patna:
As the first phase of nominations for the Bihar Assembly Elections concludes, the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) is yet to finalize its seat-sharing formula – raising serious questions about its internal cohesion. The BJP has taken sharp aim at the alliance’s disarray.

Party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi didn’t hold back in his criticism. Quoting renowned poet Mirza Akbarabadi, he remarked, "We prayed for a long life and got just four days – two were lost in desire, and two in waiting." Trivedi used this poetic jab to underline the prolonged indecision within the Mahagathbandhan.

He added, “When an alliance cannot even finalize its list of candidates on time, it clearly shows they’re not ready to govern. And once they lose, they’ll blame the voter rolls instead of acknowledging their own failure.”

Reports indicate that major constituents of the alliance, particularly the RJD and Congress, have declared candidates for overlapping seats – further exposing rifts. Internal competition among alliance members has added confusion and threatens to impact voter confidence.

Trivedi argued that “parties riddled with internal power struggles and familial factions can never provide stable leadership to a state like Bihar.” He warned that such alliances, formed for electoral convenience rather than shared vision, ultimately collapse under pressure.

As the election season heats up, voters will be closely watching how Mahagathbandhan manages its unresolved seat distribution – and whether it can even present a united front before the polls.
