DK Shivakumar Responds to CM Speculations: “I’m in No Hurry, I Know My Role”

Bengaluru: Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has addressed growing speculation over a potential leadership change in the state, firmly stating that he is not in any rush to become Chief Minister.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Shivakumar expressed disappointment over certain news channels “twisting his words” during a recent interaction with the public at Lalbagh. Reports had suggested he hinted that the time for him to become CM was near.

Clarifying his remarks, Shivakumar said, “Some people asked me if my time is coming. I only mentioned that others have expressed such thoughts. I never said my time is near. I was not there to make political statements.”

The Congress-led Karnataka government is approaching the halfway mark of its five-year term in November 2025. This has sparked speculation about possible cabinet reshuffles and leadership shifts – dubbed by some as the “November Revolution.”

However, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has already stated his intention to serve the full term, dismissing any plans for a transition.

Echoing this sentiment, Shivakumar added, “I know my responsibilities and my role in the government. What needs to happen will happen at the right time. For now, I’m fully focused on governance.”

His remarks aim to quash internal speculation and media narratives, reinforcing unity within the party and stability in the administration.
