Once a nurse in Rohtak, Haryana, Jyoti has transformed her life completely – both in spirit and name. Now known as Indulekha, she left behind her worldly life two years ago to dedicate herself fully to Lord Banke Bihari in Vrindavan.
In February this year, Indulekha performed a symbolic Vedic marriage with the deity, embracing a life of devotion and spiritual commitment. Having accepted Lord Banke Bihari as her eternal consort, this Karva Chauth marked a deeply emotional milestone – her first fast for His long life and eternal blessings.
Observing a nirjala (waterless) fast, Indulekha began her day with early morning darshan of Lord Bihari. Back home, she decorated the idol as a bride adorns her husband and offered specially prepared dishes as bhog. When she visited the main temple, the temple priests gifted her sacred prasadi and vermillion, a gesture that overwhelmed her with joy.
At night, Indulekha plans to visit Nandgaon – the spiritual abode of Nand Baba and Yashoda – to seek blessings for her divine husband. She will offer arghya to the moon and conclude her fast in traditional fashion.
Her story resonates with spiritual seekers, symbolizing deep faith and unwavering devotion. For Indulekha, this Karva Chauth was not just a ritual – it was an offering of love, surrender, and lifelong service to the divine.
