India Takes Firm Control on Day 2 of Delhi Test as Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja Lead the Charge

On the second day of the Delhi Test, Team India once again showcased their dominance. After declaring their first innings at a commanding 518 runs for five wickets, the Indian bowlers struck early, dismissing four West Indies batsmen by the close of play. West Indies ended the day on 140 runs, still trailing by 378, and face the looming threat of a follow-on.

Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja emerged as the standout performers of the day. Gill notched his 10th Test century, displaying excellent form and composure at the crease. Jadeja contributed significantly with the ball, claiming three crucial wickets that put the visitors under immense pressure.

India’s declaration at 518/5 set a high target, putting West Indies on the back foot right from the start. The visitors had a shaky beginning, with John Campbell falling cheaply for 10 runs, caught brilliantly by Saisudhasan off Jadeja’s bowling.

Following that, Tegarharayan Chandrapaul and Alik Athanaze formed a solid partnership for the second wicket, stabilizing the innings. However, Chandrapaul’s resistance was broken when Jadeja dismissed him for 34 runs at a team total of 87.

Overall, India maintained firm control of the match, continuing to press West Indies and keeping their hopes alive of an early victory. With the visitors struggling to build momentum, India’s strong performance on Day 2 sets the stage for a possible follow-on.
