New Delhi – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday to discuss a wide range of global and bilateral issues, including peace efforts, maritime security, trade cooperation, and emerging technologies.
During the meeting, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s strong commitment to promoting peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific and West Asia. He emphasized that India supports all initiatives aimed at resolving conflicts such as the Ukraine war and the Gaza crisis through dialogue and diplomacy.
Highlighting the growing strategic partnership between the two nations, Modi described India and the UK as "natural partners" united by shared values of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. He noted that the India-UK relationship is emerging as a vital pillar of global stability and economic progress, especially in times of worldwide uncertainty.
This visit marks Keir Starmer’s first official trip to India, accompanied by a 125-member business delegation. The UK Prime Minister is set to participate in major events such as the Global FinTech Fest and the CEO Forum, aiming to deepen economic ties and investment opportunities.
The leaders also discussed cooperation in trade, security, and artificial intelligence, reflecting a mutual interest in expanding engagement in cutting-edge sectors. With some friction currently impacting India-US trade relations, the India-UK corridor appears to be gaining renewed momentum.
