Mayawati Urges Muslims to Support BSP Instead of SP-Congress

Mayawati Appeals to Muslim Community to Back BSP Over SP-Congress

BSP chief Mayawati has made a significant appeal to the Muslim community, urging them to support the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) instead of the Samajwadi Party (SP) or Congress. Speaking in Lucknow on October 29, she emphasized that BSP is the true ally of Muslims in countering BJP’s politics.

Addressing a special meeting of the BSP’s “Muslim Society Brotherhood Organization,” Mayawati called for unity among Muslim voters and directed party leaders to strengthen grassroots support. She pointed out that SP and Congress have historically received Muslim support but failed to prevent BJP from returning to power.

Recalling the 2022 assembly elections, Mayawati noted that despite full backing from the Muslim community, SP could not stop BJP. In contrast, she highlighted that even limited Muslim support in 2007 enabled BSP to form a majority government.

Mayawati also criticized SP and Congress for pursuing policies she described as anti-Dalit, anti-backward class, and anti-Muslim. She said their opportunistic politics had inadvertently strengthened BJP in Uttar Pradesh, while they consistently undermined BSP instead of offering a serious challenge to BJP.

Reflecting on her tenure as Chief Minister, Mayawati stated that BSP governments ensured safety, respect, and political representation for Muslims. She emphasized that her administration protected Muslim lives, properties, and religious freedoms, while curbing communal violence and restoring law and order across Uttar Pradesh.

The BSP chief reiterated that the party’s mission extends beyond winning power—it aims to politically empower Dalits, backward communities, tribals, Muslims, and other marginalized groups to lead dignified lives.

The meeting was attended by BSP state leaders, mandal heads, and district chiefs. Mayawati instructed party workers to ensure no eligible voter is left out during booth-level voter list revisions.

Political analysts view her appeal as a strategic move to attract Muslim votes, posing a new challenge for the SP-Congress alliance in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.
