Nitish Kumar's CM Role in Bihar 2025: Uncertainty Looms Large

Bihar 2025 Elections: Will Nitish Kumar Be CM Again?

With the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 gaining momentum, one major question is echoing through political corridors: Will Nitish Kumar return as Chief Minister?

The NDA alliance, which includes the BJP and JDU, has confirmed that it will fight the elections under Nitish Kumar's leadership. However, unlike previous years, no formal announcement has been made declaring him the Chief Ministerial candidate.

The Political Puzzle

In the last assembly election, despite JDU winning only 43 seats, Nitish Kumar was appointed CM after he was unanimously chosen by the NDA legislative party. Although he initially declined the post, he ultimately accepted it under alliance pressure.

This time, the NDA’s silence on naming a CM face has fueled speculation. While Nitish himself has shown interest in being officially named, Home Minister Amit Shah has neither confirmed nor denied the possibility — leaving room for interpretations.

Strategy or Uncertainty?

Political analysts believe that withholding the CM face announcement might be a strategic move — giving the NDA flexibility to respond to post-election numbers or shifts in alliances.

Despite the ambiguity, Nitish Kumar remains a strong contender, backed by years of administrative experience and political influence in Bihar.

Conclusion:
As the election draws near, the suspense over the CM face could either work in NDA’s favor by keeping options open — or create internal friction. For now, Nitish Kumar continues to be at the center of Bihar's political narrative, even without an official declaration.
