RJD’s Bhumihar Strategy May Disrupt NDA’s Stronghold in Bihar Elections 2025

As the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections draw near, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has made a calculated move to tap into the Bhumihar vote base — a community traditionally loyal to the NDA. According to insider reports, RJD is preparing to field six to eight Bhumihar candidates, a shift from its earlier electoral strategies.

Among the prominent names is Shivani Shukla, daughter of jailed strongman and former MLA Munna Shukla, who is expected to contest from the Lalganj constituency. Other confirmed candidates include:

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar from Parbatta (Khagaria)

Bogo Singh from Matihani (Begusarai)

Ravi Ranjan alias Chhotu Mukhiya from Asthawan (Nalanda)

In addition, Rahul Sharma, son of former MP Jagdish Sharma, is likely to be fielded from the Ghosi seat.

This move signals a deliberate shift by RJD, aiming to break into NDA's stronghold areas in Magadh, Khagaria, and Begusarai regions by appealing to upper-caste Bhumihar voters. Unlike previous elections where Bhumihar representation in RJD was minimal, this time the party appears focused on redefining its social and caste outreach.

With this bold strategy, RJD not only seeks to broaden its voter base but also aims to put NDA -- particularly BJP -- on the back foot in constituencies where caste dynamics play a decisive role.
