UK PM Keir Starmer Visits India, Set to Discuss Vision 2030 and Trade with PM Modi

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday morning for a two-day official visit to India—his first since assuming office. Accompanying him is a high-level delegation of over 100 members representing the sectors of culture, trade, and industry.

On October 10, PM Starmer is scheduled to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the Vision 2030 roadmap, aimed at deepening strategic and economic cooperation between the two nations.

This visit follows PM Modi’s trip to the UK earlier this year, during which both countries signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The deal aims to double bilateral trade to $120 billion by 2030, easing market access for goods from both nations.

Sources indicate that PM Starmer may attend a football engagement at Cooperage Ground and also visit Yash Raj Studios. He is also expected to meet prominent Indian industrialists and have discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

Both leaders are set to participate in the Global Fintech Fest 2025, one of the world’s largest fintech events, taking place in Mumbai from October 7 to 9. The summit focuses on AI-driven financial innovation and is expected to draw over 100,000 participants from 75 countries, including 7,500 companies and 800 speakers.

Starmer’s visit underscores the mutual commitment of India and the UK to elevate ties across technology, trade, and diplomacy.
