Guwahati / Singapore — The mysterious death of acclaimed singer Zubeen Garg has taken a dramatic turn after his bandmate, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, publicly claimed that his passing was not an accident but a premeditated murder. Goswami has leveled serious charges against Garg’s manager, Siddharth Sharma, and festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta, alleging they orchestrated the incident with poison.
Bandmate’s Accusation
According to Goswami’s statement, Sharma and Mahanta plotted to eliminate Garg by administering poison and later staged the scene to resemble a drowning accident. He alleges that on September 19, Garg and his associates were participating in a water‑sports activity in Singapore. During this trip, Sharma reportedly took control of the yacht and steered it further away from the shore, placing the group in deeper water. Goswami also claimed that Garg seemed distressed and labored for breath but was coerced into swimming.
He further alleged that although Garg was showing signs of distress—such as frothing at his mouth and nose—Sharma dismissed the symptoms, attributing them to acid reflux. Goswami contends that Garg, an experienced swimmer, would not have drowned so suddenly without foul play.
SIT Investigation Deepens
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe every facet of the case. Investigators are collecting medical reports, testimonies from eyewitnesses, and surveillance footage from the incident zone. Both Sharma and Mahanta have already been summoned for questioning, with law enforcement treating Goswami's allegations as serious leads.
