The countdown for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 has officially begun. In a recent press briefing, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced the schedule for the much-anticipated elections, marking the return of the democratic process in the state after five years.
Highlighting the Election Commission’s structured approach, Kumar explained that the electoral process unfolds in two key phases -- first, the preparation and verification of the voter list, followed by the actual conduct of elections.
According to the commission, the voter list revision process commenced on June 24, 2025.
A draft voter list was published on August 1, 2025.
Citizens were given time from August 1 to September 1 to file any claims or objections.
Based on this, the final electoral roll was officially released on September 30, 2025.
Voters who still find discrepancies in their details can file appeals with their respective District Magistrates, the commission added.
Gyanesh Kumar assured that this year’s elections will be more streamlined, accessible, and transparent compared to previous years. He emphasized that all necessary preparations have been completed to ensure a hassle-free experience for voters across the state.
In closing, the Election Commission urged voters and media professionals to cooperate fully, underlining their shared responsibility in making the election process free, fair, and peaceful.
