During the ongoing Bihar elections, an unusual situation unfolded in Banka district where Minister and JDU candidate Jayant Raj missed the nomination deadline by just a few minutes. Jayant Raj, contesting from the Amarpur assembly seat, arrived at the nomination center moments after the official deadline had passed, preventing him from filing his nomination today.
Speaking to the media, Jayant Raj acknowledged the delay, saying, “Rules are rules, and everyone must follow the Election Commission’s guidelines. I reached one minute late, so I couldn’t file my nomination today. I will complete the process tomorrow.”
The incident quickly became a topic of discussion across social media platforms and political circles. However, there is relief for Jayant Raj as the election in Banka is scheduled in the second phase, allowing him to file his nomination without any penalty tomorrow.
Jayant Raj explained that the delay was caused due to interactions with local supporters and receiving their warm welcome while on his way to the nomination center. He assured that he would comply with all regulations and submit his nomination papers on Saturday.
According to sources, Jayant Raj was delayed while meeting and greeting supporters en route, and by the time he reached the election office, the nomination window had closed.
