Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have intensified dramatically, with the Taliban claiming responsibility for a deadly border clash that allegedly left 58 Pakistani soldiers dead. According to Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, nine Taliban fighters were also killed and 16 others were injured during the confrontation.

Mujahid stated that Afghan forces seized 25 Pakistani military posts and confiscated a large cache of weapons. The Taliban described the offensive as a retaliatory strike following alleged airstrikes by Pakistan targeting areas in Kabul and eastern Afghanistan.

As reported by Afghan media outlet TOLOnews, the border skirmish erupted after Pakistan's air raids killed 46 Afghan civilians, including women and children. The Taliban has condemned these actions as a violation of Afghan sovereignty and has called for international intervention to prevent further escalation.

This recent conflict signals a deepening rift between the two neighboring countries and poses a growing threat to regional peace and stability. Diplomatic observers warn that unless tensions are de-escalated soon, the situation could spiral into prolonged violence with wider implications for South Asia.
