The much-anticipated ODI series between India and Australia is set to begin on October 19. The Indian squad includes star batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who last represented the team in March during India’s successful Champions Trophy campaign under Rohit’s captaincy. The Indian team has already arrived in Australia and is currently training in Perth.
This series offers Virat Kohli a golden opportunity to make history. If Kohli scores a century in this series, he will become the highest century-maker in ODI cricket with 52 hundreds, surpassing his current tally of 51. To put this in perspective, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has 51 Test centuries, but Kohli already holds the record for most ODI centuries. He broke Tendulkar’s ODI century record of 49 during the 2023 World Cup. Earlier this year, Kohli scored a century against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy as well. However, to match Tendulkar’s overall international record of 100 centuries across formats, Kohli still needs 18 more.
The first ODI will take place at Perth Stadium, followed by the second match on October 23 in Adelaide. The series will conclude on October 25 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. After the ODI series, both teams will compete in a five-match T20 series. Notably, Kohli and Rohit Sharma are expected to participate only in the ODI matches.
