Patna, Bihar – The upcoming Bihar Assembly elections promise an intense political showdown, with three prominent figures — Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor — all fully engaged in the contest.
Polling will be conducted in two phases, on November 6 and 11, and election campaigns across all major parties have gained serious momentum.
According to several political surveys, Tejashwi Yadav has emerged as the most popular choice for Chief Minister, indicating a significant shift in public sentiment. However, opinion polls vary on which alliance may secure a majority in the 243-seat Bihar Legislative Assembly, where 122 seats are required to form the government.
The Lok Pal survey suggests that the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) could win between 118 and 126 seats, while the NDA may secure 105 to 114 seats, signaling a tight contest. In contrast, the Times Now–JBC poll forecasts a comfortable lead for the NDA with 131 to 150 seats, including 66–77 for BJP and 52–58 for JD(U).
Further support for the NDA is seen in the IANS–Matrise survey, projecting 150 to 160 seats for the ruling alliance, and just 70 to 85 for the opposition.
Notably, public opinion polls conducted from February to September consistently ranked Tejashwi Yadav as the top choice for CM. Prashant Kishor, though new to the race, has also gained notable public interest, making this election one of Bihar's most compelling in years.
