Today marks the birthday of SS Rajamouli, one of India's most celebrated filmmakers whose track record speaks for itself — not a single flop to date.
Known for his grand vision and precision storytelling, Rajamouli has transformed South Indian cinema and taken it to a global audience. Every frame in his films reflects meticulous planning, from extravagant sets to emotionally rich narratives.
His early career saw regional successes, such as a film starring Jr. NTR made on a ₹4 crore budget, which earned ₹12 crore — a superhit. Another, with a ₹7 crore budget, grossed ₹26 crore and became a blockbuster. His projects with actors like Nithiin, Genelia, Prabhas, and Ravi Teja all followed the same trend — high returns and audience acclaim.
In 2005, he teamed up with Prabhas for a ₹13 crore film that earned ₹32 crore. Then came the mega-blockbusters:
Magadheera (₹40 crore budget, ₹150 crore gross)
Eega (2012, ₹40 crore budget, ₹110 crore earnings)
Baahubali series: The first part earned ₹650 crore, while Baahubali 2 shattered records with ₹1,810 crore.
RRR grossed over ₹1,258 crore on a ₹550 crore budget, cementing his status as a global filmmaking icon.
Currently, Rajamouli is working on an ambitious project featuring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra. The anticipation is high — and if history is any indication, this might just be his next massive success.
Happy Birthday, SS Rajamouli — the man who never misses.
