New Delhi — Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has strongly refuted allegations made by the Congress party regarding the country’s ethanol policy. Speaking at the News18 Hindi Chaupal 2025 event, Gadkari addressed claims that the policy was designed to benefit his family and son personally.
Gadkari dismissed the accusations as baseless, stating that all his initiatives are framed with the nation’s development and farmer welfare in mind, not personal or political gain. He reiterated that the ethanol policy aims to increase agricultural profitability while reducing India’s dependence on oil imports.
"Policies like these are introduced to bring transparency and boost the economy — not for individual benefit," Gadkari emphasized. He further clarified that encouraging ethanol production helps sugarcane farmers get fair prices for their produce, providing a much-needed economic boost to rural communities.
Responding directly to the Congress party’s criticism, Gadkari advised political opponents to avoid making allegations without verified facts. His assertive stance has reignited the political conversation around India’s ethanol strategy and its broader implications for energy and agriculture.
As the debate continues, the ethanol policy remains a key focus of India’s efforts to transition toward cleaner fuels and support local farming economies — a goal Gadkari insists is purely in the national interest.
